WHERE DREAMS GO TO SLEEP

PITCH - There is life and there is death, but there is also a large grey zone in between. And that’s where the research of doctor Steven Laureys is situated. He heads the multidisciplinary team of the Coma Science Group in Liège, trying to unravel some of the mysteries that surround the human consciousness. How is it that we can think, feel, love? How does grey matter give birth to what one might call the soul?
Laureys and his team look at these questions by studying people with an exceptional brain. Be it people who are locked in their own body, people who’ve had a near death experience, champion free divers or Tibetan monks. These are fundamental questions, but they can also help the comatose people who come to Laureys for care. For them, this is the end of the road. And Laureys has to find out if they are still there, inside, or not.
